Hand Carved Wooden Darning Mushroom

We partnered up with our local Scottish Men's Shed Association to produce these beautiful darning mushrooms. After struggling to find a local or small business that makes darning mushrooms, we reached out and asked if they would make some for us. And they delivered!

• approximately 9cm/ 3.5" circumference with a 10cm/ 4" long handle

The Men's Shed movement started in Australia in the 90's, and has since grown to become a global movement. Their main goal is to support men's mental health by  providing a safe space where men can meet and socialise and work together through craft, doing everything from metalwork and woodwork to gardening and mending. We were delighted that our local Shed were interested in our challenge of the darning mushrooms and we're honoured to stock them here at the studio.

Each mushroom is lovingly made by hand one of our local shed's members, and proceeds from the sale of each mushroom are donated directly back to the men's shed project to support them in the work they do. 

So next time you use your mushroom to mend your socks or garments, you'll be:

• reducing carbon emissions by buying a locally made item with local wood - less mileage and not mass produced!
• reducing your environmental impact by preventing clothes going to landfill
